Minimize Outlook XP to the system tray
Outlook 2002 (Outlook XP) can be set to minimize to the system tray. In order to enable this feature a setting has to be changed in the registry. Do the following:
- Open Registry Editor (Start>Run>
regedit
).
- Navigate to the following key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Preferences
.
NOTE: HKCU is the abbreviation for HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
- Locate the value
MinToTray
.
NOTE: If this value does not exist, do the following:
- Click on Edit.
- Click on New.
- Select DWORD value.
- Type
MinToTray
and press ENTER.
NOTE: Capitalization does count!
- Click on Edit.
- Double click on the
MinToTray
value.
- Type 1 to enable this functionality and press ENTER.
- Close Registry Editor.
